Coach Julie works to build trust and connection in order to foster a positive and fun learning environment. When necessary, she helps athletes to overcome fears associated with water; all while teaching the fundamentals needed to help reach the athlete's swim goals.
She is a proponent of teaching critical thinking skills and promotes independence and accountability within our youngest athletes. Teaching children to be self aware and in control of their progress, not only helps them to develop their swim fundamentals more quickly, but also translates to other areas of their lives.

As a swim coach, my philosophy centers around creating a fun, engaging, and supportive environment where athletes can thrive both in and out of the water. I believe humor is one of the best ways to connect with swimmers, break down barriers, and make tough training feel lighter.
Working with our youngest athletes, mastering great stroke technique and breath control helps lay the foundation for developing speed. I’m insistent on developing strong underwaters for efficiency. The training technique may vary according to age and ability, but the underwater phase is where races are often won or lost. It's crucial to learn how to maximize speed and streamline. Whether it’s focusing on proper technique or emphasizing the importance of explosive push-offs and dolphin kicks, mastering underwaters will set our swimmers up for success across all strokes.

Coach Ariel is a dedicated swim coach with a philosophy centered on empowering swimmers to not only improve their skills but also gain confidence for life in the water.
She believes that creating an energetic, positive environment helps athletes embrace the learning process and stay motivated. By consistently bringing energy to every practice, she inspires swimmers to give their best effort while building confidence in their abilities.
Repetition is key to mastering the fundamentals. Whether it's refining stroke technique, improving starts, or perfecting turns, she emphasizes repetition to help athletes engrain the skills they need to succeed. With patience and persistence, swimmers build muscle memory that allows them to perform with precision under pressure. Her goal is to create a space where athletes feel encouraged to make mistakes, learn from them, and come back stronger with each repetition. Through enthusiasm and practice, we develop both strong skills and a love for the sport.

Coach Chris assists with our 10 and over age groups. He has extensive experience working with high school age students making the transition to college.
Coaching Philosophy: Work smarter not harder. Focus should always be on technique and mental resilience over hard physical work, although all can be done. And above all, have fun.
Background: I’ve been fortunate enough to swim under some of the great coaches in the world in high school, college and beyond including (but not limited to) Mike Bottom, Dave Salo and Nort Thornton.
I came from Maryland where I swam for Curl-Burke Swim Club (now NCAP) where I trained with and competed against several Olympians. In high school I competed at junior and senior nationals and won a metro title with my high school where I was captain and swimmer of the year. I was a 5 time finalist at pac 10s in college. After college I competed in the 2008 Olympic trials after training at Trojan swim club as a post grad. I continue to swim masters at West Hollywood aquatics.
I’ve been coaching 17 seasons at Loyola high school and for 6 years at West Hollywood aquatics. I’ve been coaching and giving swim lessons since I was in high school as I come from a big swimming family.
