LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Coordinator and Y Weight Loss Facilitator.   Focus: Introduction to strength training (especially women and seniors), balance, functional training, exercise for weight loss, Powerlifting, and HIIT training.   Personal Bio:  My fitness journey began in 2001, a year after moving to Nebraska from California. Being away from my home, and my family caused depression, which lead to a100 pound weight gain. It took me almost a decade, while gaining and losing that 100 pounds twice, to take charge of my health and well being. I was certified in personal training in 2014 and found my home at the Armbrust Y where I stayed for nine years. I have been a director of fitness since 2020 and started at Buena Vista summer of 2023. My passion is working with women, mostly mothers, who put themselves last to take care of others. As a wife and mother myself, it brings my heart so much joy to give some of that motherly love and care back! I believe that health starts on the inside. As the mind gets stronger, so does the body. Strong inside. Strong outside.

ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Nutrition, Exercise and Health Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a pre-dietetics track. My focus is studying sports nutrition and nutrition for optimal health. My fitness journey has been finding the balance in what I eat, physical activity, and health. I love to incorporate multiple methods of fitness (weightlifting, yoga, athletic conditioning, balance and coordination training) to achieve a well rounded and functional body. I am very passionate about food and nutrition and keep up with the latest nutritional research through my college courses. Working as a student aid to the Husker football performance nutrition staff, I am learning about nutrition for peak performance. Hello Buena Vista family, my name is Zack Follmer, and I am Buena Vista's new Wellness Coach and Personal Trainer. I have been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2017. In addition to working alongside individuals one on one, I am also a Certified Athletic Trainer for Omaha Public Schools. I have been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 2012, and have been with Omaha Public Schools since the start of the 23-24 school year. I enjoy engaging in a number of different activities when it comes to my own fitness journey. A few of my personal highlights include running my first marathon in 2022, and completing a Half Iron Man in 2023. I look forward to helping better the health of this community by working alongside you all no matter the goal, big or small!
